Mistletoes

Thank you, Pinterest for this simple, cute craft. Supplies: green and red paint, card stock, paintbrush, marker, and wet wipes.

I folded the 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper in half to make it a card.  Paint green footprints and red thumbprints.
As we were taking out our Christmas decorations, I found these treasures in our box.  I LOVE being crafty this time of year with the kids!!!

Mommy and Me Turkey

It is turkey time!  I could just "gobble up" this simple project.  The best part was having my son paint my hand.  I am most thankful for spending time with my little ones.  This project captures this time together.

Today was the last class of my Fall session of mommy and me.  This project was the perfect end to our time together.  I'll be back in December for a very special 2-week session.

HANDS and FEET Fine Art

Looking for some color, something unique, and something you can treasure over the years for your kids?  Pick up a large, square canvas at Aaron Brothers and colors of washable paint to match their room.  It is risky to do multiple hand prints of infants and toddlers, so try painting their foot and press on the canvas in random spots.  Then, paint an older child's left hand one color and right hand another color and press around the foot prints.  Rotate the canvas so the prints are going in different directions.  Write their names, ages and date on the back.  After it is dried, add this masterpiece to their room.  It will just what the room needed to make it complete.  I hope this inspires you to create some of your own unique pieces of art.  They would make great gifts for grandparents too!

Are You My Mother?

This project was inspired by one of my favorite board books, Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman.  It is about a baby bird in search of his mother.
Supplies: giant blue washable ink pad or washable paint for the bird, wet wipes, gift basket filler for the nest, glue, card stock or construction paper, orange marker for the beak and black marker for the eye.  You can get creative and add additional details on your paper.
This simple handprint bird will be sure to put a smile on mom or grandma's face this Mother's Day!!

September's "Handy" Treasure!  They can be done with any age and make great keepsakes to show your child’s growth or gifts to send to the grandparents.  You can make these crafts by tracing, painting, or pressing your hands.  If your child does not like to get their hands painted, try tracing their hand instead.  If you have a little one, paint their foot instead of their hand.  

September - Apple Tree

Supplies: brown paper, scissors, glue stick, green and red washable paint, paint or sponge brush, paper plate, white construction paper, and wet wipes

Supplies can be purchased at Michael’s Craft Store

Directions:  I always put down an old plastic table cloth left over from a birthday party as our work space.  Trace and cut out a tree trunk from the brown construction.  If your child is old enough, have them do the cutting.  Glue down on the white construction paper.  Pour green paint on a paper plate and have your child press or paint their hand and put on the paper as the leaves.  Repeat and repaint when necessary.  For a younger child, paint their foot.  Once dry, use the red paint to make apples on the tree using their thumb.  Be sure to write their name and date on the art work.
